Steve set off on his quest, armed with his trusty pickaxe and a hunger for adventure. Ingredients:

• 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
• 1 tsp baking powder
• 1/2 tsp baking soda
• 1/2 tsp salt
• 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
• 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
• 1 large egg
• 1 tsp vanilla extract
• blue and black food coloring
• 1/2 cup granulated sugar, for rolling

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
3. In a large bowl, beat the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. Add the egg and vanilla extract and mix until well combined.
4. Add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients and mix until just combined.
5. Divide the dough into two equal parts. Add blue food coloring to one half of the dough and black food coloring to the other half. Mix until the colors are evenly distributed.
6. Roll the blue dough and black dough into small balls. Press the balls together to form a diamond shape, making sure to leave some space between each cookie.
7. Roll each diamond-shaped cookie in granulated sugar.
8. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.
9. Cool the cookies on the baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
